Sutton had ear tubes placed on July 9. We had to arrive at the hospital at 7:30am. We let the boys stay up later than usual and eat some snacks after dinner. We usually don't let them eat anything after they are done with dinner. Our rule is once you get up from the dinner table, you are done --- but rules have to be broken every once in awhile! Sutton is our child who immediately heads to the pantry as soon as he wakes up. He then brings the granola bar into us to open for him! We knew we had to keep him in bed as long as possible, and even put our lock back on the pantry to keep him out in case we didn't hear him get up! We woke him up just before we needed to leave, and loaded him in the car in his PJ's! We dropped Sawyer off at school and arrived at the hospital for his procedure. He liked all the fun toys they had to play with at the hospital, but did not like having his blood pressure taken or putting on the hospital gown. He was away from us for about 20 minutes. His tubes were placed without difficulty and we were home by 9:30am! He was VERY cranky on the way home, due to the anesthesia, but after a power nap he was back to normal. We went for his follow-up appointment today and his hearing has dramatically improved. Prior to his tubes, he was only able to hear 40 decibels, but now he can hear as low as 10 decibels. His tubes look great and Sawyer was even able to see his ear tubes! Sawyer always has LOTS of questions for the doctor! Sutton is starting to talk more and is even enunciating his words better.
On the way to the hospital -- all smiles! Of course he had puppy and his star blanket with him!
He even took a "selfie" on his way to the hospital!
Playing with the toys! (It took a lot of bargaining to get him in this gown!) We didn't even care that he was sitting on the floor -- he was happy!
On the way home, he was very fussy. We couldn't even get him to put his PJ's or other clothes on before we left the hospital, so we took him home in his pull-up. He finally fell asleep about 10 minutes away from home.
After a power nap he was back to normal!
He had fun at brother's swim lesson -- but we had to be careful not to get his ears wet!
