In our backyard we have a sandbox turtle, given to us by one of my co-workers. A few weekends ago Sam decided we needed to put "a few bags of mulch around the sandbox" to keep the weeds from growing around it. Half a day later, Sam (with some help from me) created a landscape bed complete with plants and mulch for the sandbox! It looks great & Sawyer LOVES playing in the sandbox. In fact on Sunday, he wandered to the backyard all by himself why he was outside watering flowers with daddy. While watering, daddy found a real turtle, which Sawyer was completely fascinated by.
