Adventures in Parenting...

Let me start off by saying this hasn't been the greatest week at our house.  We weren't home all weekend and didn't arrived back home until ~6:30 on Sunday evening, so none of our normal "weekend tasks" were completed.  Sam has been working 12-14 hour days all week -- leaving as the boys are waking up and getting home to see them go to sleep.  One of my co-workers is on vacation so I have also been very busy.  The first Wednesday of the month is my book club night and I always look forward to going -- I didn't make it to book club last night!

Onto the adventure.... Sutton has been slightly congested and had a small amount of goop in the inner corner of his right eye.  I figured it was probably just related to the cold and congestion.  I picked the boys up last night ~5:15pm and Sutton's eye was slightly red on the bottom lid and he had even more goop from the outer corner of his eye.  I decided to take him for a "$25 piece of mind doctor visit" to make sure it wasn't pink eye.  (We certainly don't want to spread our germs to everyone else in daycare or to Sawyer).  After making it to the pediatrician's office for urgent care and waiting for 30+ minutes in a waiting room full of sick kids we found out Sutton DOES have pink eye.  We were given a prescription, used the bathroom before we left and headed to Target.  After waiting 30 minutes for our prescription and doing some random shopping to kill time, everyone's patience was starting to dwindle and we were all starting to get hungry --- we were off to the car.  After getting both kids buckled into the car (which is a process by yourself!) we were getting ready to get on the highway to head home when I hear "I need to go potty" from the back seat.  Sawyer was adamant he needed to go NOW!  I am frantically trying to figure out where he can go potty.  We pull into a fast food parking lot and I am thinking I don't want to haul both kids inside and put Sutton's car seat on the floor of a public bathroom (yes, I am germ freak!).  So, I take Sawyer out of the car and have him do his business in a grassy area in front of the car.  The entire time, Sawyer is saying "why can't we go potty inside!"  Back in the car, Sutton is now SCREAMING as it is about an hour past his normal eating time.  (Unfortunately, there is not a good place to breast feed your kid in Target, especially when you still have scrubs on from work and would have to lift your entire shirt up to get the job done!)  We head to Fazzolis to go through the drive thru for something quick to eat -- it seemed to take forever!  We were then on the road home, two tired, hungry kids in tow!  We arrived home ~7:45pm (when they are usually in bed, asleep).  Sawyer eats dinner, I feed Sutton, we do a quick bath, Sam arrives home, then it was bedtime for everyone ~9:15pm -- mommy & daddy included!  What a day!  I certainly wouldn't win any mom of the year awards today!
Sutton's eye looked MUCH BETTER this morning and everyone was in a happy mood and ready for a new day.  I will try to post some pictures of the boys in the next few days.
