Sawyer's 5th Birthday!

Sawyer celebrated his 5th birthday on January 8!  He was so excited to take cookies to school and he told us the "birthday kid gets to do LOTS of special things" at school.  He even had a new superhero shirt to wear.  Sawyer and Daddy went out for dinner and went to see a movie (Walking With Dinosaurs) last night.  He had LOTS of fun!  Today, we took him for his 5 year check up. Unfortunately, Daddy was busy at work so this was a Mommy & Sawyer trip.  He was excited to see Dr. Moylan, but was very focused on finding out if he was going to have to have any shots.  Of course, we had told him he was probably going to have some shots to be healthy and go to kindergarten.  As soon as he found out he was going to have shots, he was trying to hide in the corner of the room.  I had to hold his upper body and the nurse had to hold his legs and give him the 2 shots.  He had a complete melt down which lasted about 5 minutes.  It was definitely the worst round of shots we have had!  They did warn us at his 4 year old check up!  After getting a ring pop from Mommy, and a sticker from the nurse, he was all better.  When we got in the car, he said "my leg really doesn't hurt anymore!"  He is all ready for kindergarten now.  Thank goodness he has no more shots until he is in the sixth grade!   He weighed 44.4 pounds (75 percentile) and was 44.5 inches tall (80th percentile).  Tonight we had some brownies to celebrate  his birthday, and he has a birthday party on Saturday too.  He is so excited.

We can't believe he is already 5, where does the time go?  Sawyer is growing into a handsome, independent, empathetic,  imaginative, sport loving, kind, caring, smart, inquisitive, and yes sometimes ornery kid.  He has brought so much joy to our lives and keeps us laughing and stopping to celebrate the little things in life.  Happy Birthday Sawyer!

We were singing him Happy Birthday!

REALLY working on blowing out his candles!

He told us he "wished for our family to always be together!"
(It brought a tear to my eye!  He is so sweet.)

His little brother, laughing at Sawyer --  he was hiding under the table!

Sutton LOVED his brownie!

So handsome.

He was trying to run away from the camera!
I love it when we capture their natural smiles.  Thank goodness our new camera is MUCH faster!

Having a hot chocolate and cake pop at Starbucks with Mommy  for snack before his check-up!
