Around midnight on Tuesday, October 4th I was woke-up by what I thought were gas pains. I got up, emptied my bladder and then went back to bed. The same pain woke me up again 40 minutes later. I decided to get out of bed and start timing my contractions. I woke Sam up at ~2:30am, and got into the shower. Around 3:00am, we called our neighbors -- Robin & Marilyn -- who had graciously agreed to sit at our house with Sawyer until Grandma Pam arrived. Mommy & Daddy were then off to St. Lukes Hospital on the Plaza. We arrived ~4:00am, I was 5 cm dilated and they decided to admit us! I was doing pretty good, but started feeling nauseated and vomitted right before I received my epidural. Thank god for epidurals!!! Once I received the epidural, I was feeling much better and was even able to get a 45 minute "power nap!" They let my labor just progress naturally, and my water broke on its own this time around. At around 9:30am I started feeling A LOT of pressure and it was time to push. I started pushing at 9:33am, and 3 contractions and 2.5 pushes later at 9:37am ---
Sutton Davis Collins arrived!
We were able to spend the first hour with him without interruption and he was VERY alert. He immediately knew how to eat! Once the nursery staff arrived, we found out Sutton was 19 inches long and weighed 8 lbs 1 oz. Below are some pictures of our exciting morning!
Changing into "hospital attire" in the triage room.
Being officially admitted to the hospital.
Right after delivery. So excited to finally meet the little person who had been moving around inside me for months!
Right after eating!
Time for his assessment from the nursery staff.
Proud daddy.
